Hi there,
My name is Stijn and I'm an indie developer.
Here's the thing: I used to be really sporty. Now though, I have 2 very young children which means I'm a lot busier and I wake up a couple of times every night. It's hard to get some physical exercise in when all you want to do is vegetate on the sofa.
I'm also getting a bit older (mid thirties here) and I notice how my body needs the stimulation to stay in condition. With the pandemic and lockdowns we have now, it's just to easy to stay in place too much.
I don't need to "get ripped". But I do want a body I can use and enjoy. To play with my children. To build our family house. To age gracefully and stay active.
Realistically, there's not much time for exercise right now. I need something I can do quickly every day, that will keep me in shape until the kids are older and I get some of my life back. I also need something I won't quit at the earliest convenience.
That's what longgoals.io is: some simple physical activity you can do and track every day. It keeps the score and fosters some friendly competition between you and your friends, so you won't quit.
Together with some friends, I've kept a spreadsheet to track pushups and km's cycled or run for the last 5 years. It's pushed us to do thousands of pushups we would not have done otherwise. The same goes for km's ran or cycled.
Because the spreadsheet is cumbersome to use, I'm building a web app. It's currently in the alpha stage. If you want to stay updated, leave your email below.
